Musical Theatre Star Josh Piterman shares his story on the ImperfectlyPerfect Podcast

‘I often wear this jumper and it says, ‘own your story’ That is about owning all parts of your story. You know, the things you’re not proud of, the shame stories that you have within you and I know shame is one of the hardest things for us to deal with as humans. It irks inside of us and manifests physically in a way that is very painful for us. It doesn’t live and it can’t live in your own house of empathy because it’s like empathy is the antidote to shame or compassion is the antidote to shame. Your self compassion. So acknowledging being honest and saying you are not perfect but you’re enough is the origins of unconditional love’ - Josh Piterman

'I literally wanted to die' with Joshua Broome

He was one of the Top Five Male Porn Stars in the World. Now he's a Pastor.

Joshua Broome has a story that'll move you to tears with his painful experiences, but then inspire you to grow in God because of what he's done in his life.

During his five years in the porn industry, Joshua Broome made over 1,000 adult films, was named Top Adult Male Performer of the Year, and earned over one million dollars. This episode we hear how Joshua first got involved in the porn industry, the damage it wreaked on him, and where it got to the point of him wanting to take his own life. He shares while working at a restaurant in L.A., how he met a group of girls who worked in porn who suggested that he consider doing so as well. He agreed to meet with an agent, who told him that because of his good looks and because there was a need for acting experience, he could likely have a successful career as a porn star.

The guilt and nerves gradually diminished throughout his first year working as a porn star. “The more numb I became to what it was, the less I felt conflicted about it,” he said. “It was just a transaction to me. A handshake was sometimes more personal than having sex.” Joshua them delves in to the decision to leave the porn industry being the result of something one could describe as a modern-day miracle.

This is such an inspirational story and we cannot wait for you to listen. So be sure to click the link in our bio for our latest episode.

‘Imperfectly Perfect means everyone is perfect the way they are. In a world of social media and appearance, we’re afraid to post a picture without a filter on. Be yourself. Be that imperfect person.
If you constantly put out this fake highlight reel of yourself, you are only going to attract people who don’t really care or don’t realise they don’t care, about you.
If you put your imperfect self out there, whatever size, shape, age, look, belief whatever it is you are into, put your true self out there.
